The yearly costs of registering our ".community" domain name (with GoDaddy) are now €/$ 70,- and keeps increasing a little every year. To save some costs we consider switching to a different domain (.com or .org or possibly .eu).
What would be the consequences for changing the domain name? Would all internal links, so a post on the forum that references another post or topic, break? Any other related issues?
How big are the consequences related to search engine rankings?
Same questions for moving to the free tier.
Any suggestions for a cheap domain would also be welcome. Ideally something that relates to 'forum', 'discussion', 'music', 'festival' or something similar..
